Welcome to the Professional Writing Program!

Professional writers work in almost every field of industry and public life, including high-technology, science, education, business, government, and the non-profit sector. The English Department's Professional Writing Program offers options for both English majors who want to make writing a career, and English minors who want to supplement their work in another area with highly marketable skills in writing.

Students in the program combine coursework on the methods, forms, and issues of workplace writing with practical experience and interdisciplinary electives. Whether you choose the major or the minor, the Professional Writing Program lets you begin your career with important advantages:
