that is actually a pretty late use. McHale uses it in his _Constructing postmodernism_ (page 257) - the book originally came out in 1992, but the chapter "Towards a poetics of cyberpunk," in which the term appears, is a revision of the article "Elements of a Poetics in Cyberpunk" from the Spring 1992 issue of _Critique_. It also was used a number of times with reference to Di Filippo's writing - definitely before 1999 although I don't have citations at hand at the moment.
