Swartz talked to me for half an hour and we exchanged e-mails, but little of that got into the story.  He did take my suggestion about Gernsback, but much of his take on the topic was pretty well established before we got in touch.  Jim

You'll notice that genre sf writers are minor leaguers compared to Gary Shteyngart and Albert Brooks. I rather doubt that John Schwartz would deign to read anything like, say, Paolo Bacigalupi's THE WINDUP GIRL or even Kim Stanley Robinson's Science in the Capital series.
