Well, no (or if it was it shouldn't have been). The Singularity as a
technological projection and narrative trajectory has been jeered at in
those terms (notably by Charlie's pal Ken MacLeod in a novel of his
own--THE CASSINI DIVISION--in which, despite a character's making this
dismissive remark, a Singularity nonetheless occurs). I doubt that a
single novel could reasonably be dubbed "the rapture" of any kind.
