That's an?ongoing problem on all lists via digest. A work-around for those of you on digest...
Bookmark the Archive page?and do your reading there more easily (with 4 sort functions)...

I'm on digest on a couple of lists, and I find it easier to read via the Archives.
Especially during high traffic times.

There might be a setting to auto truncate after so many message lines. I'll that check on my end.
