thanks, Catherine. I've duly read her bio and her three poems, the last
which effectively blew away the steel bustier often used by
sexually-exploited and -exploiting females.
lower and lower middle-classness in the USA scrapes so deep. would i have
seen a play, if not for my horrid but determined 10th grade english teacher?
would i have written a poem if my older sister hadn't shown me hers? would
i have gone to uni if my best and rich friend hadn't said she was going and
i should too?
there's a hongry-ness that some poets exhibit, such as Jennifer
Blowdryer----and David Bircumshaw himself----that simply is not present in
the anointed hierarchies. yet i know that those hierarchies contain
underclassers and low-middleclassers.
hongry-ness can't be faked, or at least i don't think it can be faked. but
higher-classness is faked, for so many understandable reasons, every day.
best,
judy
