[New-Poetry] As for the Oxford Professorship of Poetry

... as a point of documentation, this is voted on (it gets complicated) not 
by Oxford Undergraduates but by paid-up Oxford MA graduates.

            This is so baroque, it beggars belief.

                            :-(((

{Mind you, as someone who doesn't even actually have a BA, leave alone from 
Oxbridge let alone anywhere else, I have a mild degree of sympathy for 
this.}

But Housman was one of the Oxford Pros [Auden hated his lectures, and said 
so] (Graves was another, and Peter Levi), so silly as it is, it carries a 
larger weight of Respect than the laurateship here in the UK ...

... DEFITITELY Alice Land, usually grannie with a sub-machine gun, but the 
Oxford Lectures carry a clout that the UK laureateship doesn't.

It's presidential -- you might have to compromise to get elected, but once 
there ...
