This particular syntax is Northern English, particularly Cumbria and Scottish, Dumfries and Galloway
(and Ayrshire? Robin?)

And now to advance a nother odd [at least it used to be, to me] English syntax which I'd never heard 'til recently, but which's apparently used in some places in the USAmerican northeast. Examples: "Jane wants picked up at the train station" or "The bedroom needs cleaned". More typical in the USA for would be "Jane wants TO BE picked up...." or "The bedroom needs CLEANING".

  Best and enjoying this,

  Judy
