Your several assumptions, reasonably, may find themselves untrue, Chris.
Trying to find out what many of us think makes Excellent poems will usually
reveal what many of us think has made a not-Excellent poem. Flip-sides of a
coin.
Further, many people [even poet-people] change their views as they learn
more, widen their perspectives; and, of course, new or 'lurking' listmembers
appear whose responses may differ from what you're remembering in past
list-chats.
And, finally, even Bob---yes, even Bob---changes his opinions, as he so
often un-ego'ly and generously admits to us.
I suggest that you join us in evaluating poems; offer a poem or changes in
the checklist. Why not? What's there to lose? I'm finding it as
frustrating and surprise-fascinating as worthwhile projects usually prove to
be.
Best,
Judy
