"Know thyself" has been a starting place since those old Greeks. But?I know what?you're saying. It sounds a bit too easy.
I think that for most of the general public?(that small part of it, anyway,?who may pay a little?attention to poetry), poetry is a place where looking at one's own life carefully, however subjectively,?is still permitted and encouraged. And there is something to be said for that in these dissociative?times.?I don't know Fincke's work at all, I'm afraid.?10 collections gets him?a Persistence Prize.
