According to the London-based Chinese poet Yang Lian the web is also becoming increasingly important for poets. At a time when formal publishers or magazines are "almost all refusing to publish any poems", the strength of poetry on the net makes today "the most exciting time since 1949. The internet provides possibilities for poets in different parts of the country to meet each other day to day." They can discuss literature, give each other feedback and even get involved in joint projects. "It's like back in the 1970s," he continues,
