If I am not wrong, Pound asked him to teach him (frist him is Hemingway, second is Pound).

  Hemingway apparently took a lot of pride in punching Stevens who was a decade older (at least) and in worse shape. Kleinzhaler strikes me as about the same kind of tough guy.
