I actually try to answer that question when I'm asked. Many people don't
know how to talk about poetry, or what questions to ask, but they're
trying, and that's not the worst thing in the world. I kind of agree
with what Paul Krassner once said, that he believed in ethic that would
tell Mr. Jones what was happening.
So, it's about intimacy and isolation, and it's generally got at least
an undercurrent of menace. Does that say anything? Maybe not. But it may
satisfy someone who didn't really want to know anyway, or it may start a
conversation.
