The European Whitman Association will hold its first meeting in Paris on February 23-24, 2007. The EWS aims to bring Whitman scholars from around the world to cooperate on various aspects-the European reception of Whitman's work, the latter's influence on European literatures and cultures, its translations into European languages and the position held by the author of Leaves of Grass in universities around the Old Continent (research, teaching, etc.). It will also seek to make it easier for young scholars to have access to Whitman archives in Europe and the US.
