Marvin Bell, 70, the first Poet Laureate of Iowa, and now retired after 40
years on the faculty of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, has written strong poetic
reproofs of the follies of war and the inevitability of death in his 19th
collection of poetry.

So he's saying that war has follies and death is inevitable? I'm glad that
someone finally had the guts to say this!

It seems so obvious if you think about it.
