All the characters are . . . caricatures, and satirical to this or
that degree. The character of Ellen Cherry is pure artist, whether
the final product is good, bad, or indifferent. It's a fun read and
plays with serious matters, such as the patriarchal/Christian
subversion of the matriarchal/Dionysian mind set.
