We hope you will join us!

CYNTHIA KADOHATA, keynote speaker at our Saturday night banquet, won the 2005 Newbery Medal for Kira-Kira.  This heart-wrenching yet hope-filled novel explores the complex interpersonal dynamics of a loving family facing intense pressures.  Her earlier novels also depict young people in difficult situations. In the Heart of the Valley of Love, set in a dystopian future Los Angeles, has been described as “a chilling vision” and as a “a masterful evocation of physical, spiritual, and cultural displacement."
