Section 1 LAXThe closest airport to the Manhattan Beach Marriott is also the largest, LAX, with hundreds of daily national and international flights. The Marriott is just 3 miles from LAX and a taxi ride should cost less than $20. Here’s a link to the LAX website.
And here are directions from LAX to the Marriott. Section 2 Other Local AirportsIf you plan to sightsee in Southern California before or after the conference, other local airports may be closer to the sights you wish to see. For example, Burbank airport (BUR - now also known as Bob Hope airport) is close to Universal Studios; John Wayne Airport (SNA) is close to Disneyland. Long Beach (LGB) and Ontario (ONT) airports, smaller and more convenient than LAX, may offer a better deal on tickets. However, do NOT take a taxi to Manhattan Beach from any airport other than LAX, as the price will be exorbitant. If you decide to fly into BUR, ONT, LGB or SNA, you should either rent a car or take a shuttle. If you plan to sightsee, a rental car is a good idea. Self parking at the Marriott will be $12 per night. Any of these other local airports may provide you with some good deals on airline tickets and thus may be a good choice if you are planning to rent a car anyway. Below, you will find a link to each airport’s page, which should give you information on local attractions. For example, if you are planning to arrive early or stay after to go to Disneyland, then you may wish to fly in and out of John Wayne Airport. If you are interested in Universal City Walk and Universal Studios, Burbank would be a good choice. Ontario and Long Beach are both nice, quiet airports that are easy to use.
