Contacts for Contemporary Fantasy

Here are the several ways we'll be keeping in touch with each other in this course.

NOTE: The weekly MUD sessions, along with the other on-line written assignments, will replace normal "face-to-face" class meetings; so these are mandatory--make sure that you're at each session and that the teachers know you're there so that you can get credit for the conversation.

Contemporary Fantasy MUD
Our main point of contact, probably at least once per week, and where we'll discuss the readings and issues of the the course in real time.

You can access either via the web by clicking on the above link, or by using a MUD client for your particular computer and operating system (DOS, Mac, or Windows). Follow this link to download an appropriate Mud client. Use 'ebbs.english.vt.edu' as the host address, and '4096' as the port when accessing with a Mud client.

CF: The Class E-Mail List
Along with the NetForums, we'll use the class email list for posting general announcements to the group and the like; be sure to check your email every few days to keep current. To subscribe, just send a note to LISTPROC@EBBS.ENGLISH.VT.EDU that says "subscribe cf YourFirst YourLastName" (supplying your names, sans quotes, line one, flush left) in a note that has a blank subject line and no signature. Shortly, you'll receive a confirmation notice indicating that you've succeeded.
Netforums
This environment provides a way to "post" messages to an on-going web-page. The postings are arranged hierarchically according to the subject lines, and the program provides notifications by e-mail when someone posts a response to your message.

We'll use this for more thoughtful and slightly more formal communications--mostly in response to the major assigned readings and on a weekly basis.

Take a minute to become a member of the forum after you go there.
