Purposes of CATH
Many of the purposes of CATH remain the same as under its earlier
identity as CTES (see "History"
page). While teaching, research, service, and outreach have been
traditionally regarded as structurally and functionally discrete
missions throughout much of the University, CTES projects have
routinely combined these important kinds of "knowledge work" in fresh
and exciting ways (in keeping with the tendency of digital culture to
redefine traditional boundaries). This process of integrating and
redefining traditional University missions continues under CATH. The
following activities--past, present, and future--provide a partial
picture of the purposes of CATH:
Disseminations
- To disseminate CATH
projects, teaching, research
- To bring in outside expertise and points of view from other
